My name is Gary and while serving in the U.S. Army I was first licensed in 1985 in El Paso, TX. I upgraded to Technician in 1986. After I left the Army in 1987 I traveled and worked throughout the U.S. before settling back home in Michigan. While I was seeing the country I was not active as a Ham but I did keep my license up to date.
I got married again in 2003 and in 2007 my wife came across my old Radio Shack 2m hand held and tuned into the local SkyWarn net during some bad weather. Well one thing led to another and in July 2007 she got her Tech. license and we became SkyWarn spotters. In Jan. 2008 I upgraded to General class and have gotten more active in radio and have plans to upgrade to Extra class.
I became a skywarn storm spotter in 2007 with my wife KD8GTH .
I've been a member of the ARRL off and on for over 25 yrs.
As an extension of skywarn, my wife and I also joined the local RACES group.
